Tim is one of Canada’s top comedic talents. For more than two decades, Tim has been a renowned stand-up comic who has performed all over the globe. He is also one of Canada’s top comedy writers’. He has written on two of Canada’s longest running comedy series – five seasons on “This Hour Has 22 Minutes” (CBC), and twelve seasons on “The Rick Mercer Report” (CBC), also Tim was one of the creators of the top Canadian comedy special in Canadian history “Talking to American’s” starring Rick Mercer. Between the two shows, Tim has won four Gemini Awards, for best comedic writing as well as numerous Writers’ Guild Awards and Canadian Comedy Awards. Tim has also been nominated for two International Emmy Awards, and has recently won two Canadian Screen Award for best comedy writing on The Mercer Report. Some of Tim’s other writing credits include Little Mosque on the Prairie, and Just for Laughs All Access.
Tim has also had many shows in development including “The Tim Steeves Show” with Bell Media, where he was the show runner and executive producer. Aside from television writing Tim has had a very successful run as a major advertising brand creator, having been under contract by Bensimon Byrne, and recently was commissioned to create Canadian Tire’s 100 year anniversary campaign.
As a performer Tim has had his own comedy specials including, “Comedy Now” (CTV and The Comedy Network) and “Comics!” (CBC), for which he was nominated for a Gemini Award. He has brought down the house in four gala performances at the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal as well as made countless appearances at other comedy festivals around the world and has recently been on Louis CK’s comedy tour.
Many Canadians know Tim from his TV work, as a co-star on “The Bette Show” (CBC) and as the host of the sports trivia show “Game On” (Global) and the raucous male chat show “Real Men” (Global).
